At Sealpac UK, we firmly believe that the future is in our hands. Whether it's the well-being of our communities or the preservation of our environment, it is our responsibility to repair what is broken and pave the way for future generations. With the food packaging industry becoming increasingly influenced by sustainability, the demand to reduce and eliminate negative environmental and social impacts has never been greater. We recognise this responsibility and are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of people and the environment in which we live.
Our Mission
Our green mission is at the core of everything we do. We are dedicated to ensuring that the machinery we provide not only enhances efficiency for our clients but also minimises its carbon footprint. To benefit our employees and the environment, we are taking significant steps towards sustainability within our own company. We prioritise training our staff and clients to use our products in the most energy-efficient way possible. Furthermore, we actively support multiple charitable organisations through annual donations. Our commitment extends to creating a positive impact in our communities, both socially and ecologically.
Sustainability has been a longstanding focus for us. Our machinery is highly adaptable, capable of working with a diverse range of recyclable materials. Our commitment to reducing plastic usage is not a recent initiative; we have been actively involved in using infinitely recyclable materials like foil for the past 30 years, a time when sustainable packaging concepts were not widely recognised. Today we are capable of ensuring that our partnerships and machinery are capable of handling the latest recyclables, renewables, mono-plastics, etc. This means that we are not only providing our customers with versatile production lines but also consistently driving and advocating to champion a more sustainable future.
Pillars of Our Sustainability Strategy
We are committed to sustainability in every aspect of our business. We understand the critical role we play in creating a more sustainable and resilient food industry. Our sustainability strategy is built upon three key pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Social Responsibility, and Economic Prosperity.
Environmental Stewardship
Reducing Carbon Footprint:
We are dedicated to minimising our carbon emissions throughout our operations. This includes investing in energy-efficient machinery, optimising transportation routes, and adopting renewable energy sources wherever possible. To further enhance our energy efficiency, we have implemented measures such as LED lighting and solar panels that fully power the air conditioning system in our office in Poole. Additionally, we have eliminated the use of single-use water bottles within our office by installing a water dispenser. These initiatives underscore our commitment to sustainable practices in every aspect of our operations.
Waste Reduction:
We aim to reduce waste generation and promote recycling and reuse within our facilities as well as within the sites of our clients. By working closely with our partners and clients, we're dedicated to minimising food waste and packaging waste at every stage of the supply chain. We provide comprehensive training and support to our clients, aiming to enable them to utilise their solutions with optimal energy efficiency while minimizing waste generation.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Employee Well-being:
Our employees are at the heart of our success. We are committed to providing a safe, diverse, and inclusive workplace. Our commitment to sustainability extends to regular training sessions for our employees and clients, empowering them to use our products in an energy-efficient manner and reduce their carbon footprint. We offer ongoing training and development programs to ensure our team has the skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
Community Engagement:
We actively engage with the communities in which we operate. We take pride in our ongoing contributions to organizations such as MacMillians and The Truants, which support charities like the Teenage Cancer Trust, Childline, Nordoff and Robbins Music Therapy, and more. These contributions reflect our dedication to making a meaningful impact on the social fabric of our communities.
Transparency and Ethical Practices:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a fundamental part of our ethos. We ensure that our CSR policies are seamlessly integrated into all our company decision-making processes. Our commitment to transparency ensures that our clients and partners can trust us to make ethical decisions that positively impact society.
Economic Prosperity
Long-term Partnerships:
We view our relationships with our clients and partners as partnerships rather than transactions. This approach fosters mutual growth and ensures the sustainability of our business and the broader food industry. We look after our clients long after the installations of the machinery so that we can help them to the best of our ability throughout their journey.
Value Chain Collaboration:
We collaborate with partners up and down the chain to create shared value of sustainability. We offer comprehensive solutions in collaboration with our partners to deliver the most energy-efficient and productive options for our clients. Together, we identify opportunities for cost savings, resource efficiency, and growth.
"I believe in fostering genuine sustainability within our company—a sincere commitment, a concrete plan, and a viable path forward. There is so much eco-washing, green-washing, and sustainable-washing that is going on these days that authenticity is paramount. I think we should be totally truthful with ourselves and set objective, realistic goals that are achievable. This is precisely the ethos guiding Sealpac UK and Partners."
